Foundations For Discovering
Personal
Relationship With God
Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto me, and I
will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Matthew 7:7
Ask,
and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you:
The place of a personal
relationship with God is based on His Encounter with you through His word
spoken to your spirit – man; this Encounter is all about the vision or
prophecies given you by the revealing of His Word. This is the place where God
will unveil to you His plan for your life. This is the place of God’s covenant
with you through the extension His knowledge in you.
The attitude of you asking, seeking, and knocking is
the starting point of your relationship with God. You must ask, seek, and knock
for the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom behind the reason why God saved
and redeemed you from the law of Sin, and Death. You must do your best to seek
for who God has planned for you to be (identity) to your generation. In other
words, no man can come unto the father without the father calling the man unto
himself (Encounter). An Encounter with the Lord is the starting
point for you. This Encounter is all about you through the Holy Spirit gaining
a personal idea of who God is to you personal, apart from what people have told
you he is. This is the place of you gaining a personal revelation about the
Jesus you received into your life. This Encounter comes in two platforms, it
either comes through a prophecy or through a vision, and sometimes it come
through other ways according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
There is no formula to
this, just relate with God the best way you can. You can worship him, study
His word, pray, cry before His presence, dance, and clap your
hands unto him. Just do whatsoever God has placed in your heart to do in His
presence.
Holy
Spirit
John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall
hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Holy Spirit is the very
spirit that hails from God. He is not a dove, fire, wind, or cloud. The Holy
Spirit is the personality of God revealed. In other words, the Holy Spirit is a
PERSON. He is the gift of God
given to every one that believes in our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the seal of
promise over our redemption. He is our tutor, our guardian, our comforter, our
instructor, and director in all areas of life (emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially).
This is the extension
of Gods nature. You need him to help teach you, guild you, comfort you and lead
you through all the different levels of discoveries in Christ. He carries the
ability to teach you the will of God, and help you to understand the divine
truth through physical platforms. He is the Person in God’s nature that feels
your pain, sees your tears, and can touch your broken heart with healing.
The Holy Spirit is He
that can help you to discovering your self, and He has the power to explain the
spiritual plan of God to you through physical illustrations. He has the ability
to enlighten the eyes of your understanding. He has the ability to help your
heart to picture the hidden plan, and purpose of God for your life. He is the
one that helps you in the process of you been conformed into the nature of God (which was original your nature before the
fall of Adam).
The Holy Spirit feels
your pain. He knows your doubts, fears, and worries. He is always there to help
you move forward in your growth within salvation. He is the courage and hope
within us.
The Spirit of God; Holy
Spirit and Holy Ghost, holds your security, and welfare within the plan and
purpose of God for your life. The Spirit of God operates in two dimensions –
Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost.
As Jesus said, the
words I speak unto you are Spirit,
and Life. The Holy Spirit has two
natures, which is Spirit and Life. The Spirit aspect is the Holy
Spirit and the Life aspect is the Holy Ghost. The indwelling of the Spirit of
God is the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of God with you is the Holy Spirit. The
Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost – John 14:17.
The Holy Ghost resides
in you. The dwelling of the Holy Ghost within
comes through Faith. The amount of
the revelation of God’s word within you is the Holy Ghost. John 14: 17.
The Holy Spirit dwells
around you. By your constant awareness, and
consciousness of God’s presence around you, His presence becomes real. Even at
times when you were not conscious, the Holy Spirit was present. John 14: 17.
John
14: 17 – “Even
the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for
he dwelleth with you, and shall
be in you.”
“And Jesus being full
of the Holy Ghost returned from
Jordan, and was led by the Spirit (Holy
Spirit) into the wilderness,”
– Luke 4:1
“If the Spirit (Holy
Ghost) that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that same spirit (Holy
Ghost) will quicken your mortal body” - Roman 8:11
Every believer that has
heard the gospel, believe the gospel with his or her heart and confesses that
Jesus as His Lord, and Saviour has the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost. It is
all about what your Faith and believing Heart.
Mentor
Jeremiah
23:3-4
And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries
whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they
shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds
over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed,
neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
A mentor is a trusted
guardian who is ready to teach, and train you to a personal development toward
your God’s given plan, and purpose. There are the set of people who are always
ready to pour out their own experiences to you with the aid of it inspiring you
strife to be better that the level of maturity they have gained in Christ. They are individuals who are willing to give
you the freedom to become all God has designed for your life. They are
individuals who are willing to lead you and not lord over you. They are people
who are ready to support, inspires, and bring out the best in you through the
best Christ has brought out of their lives.
Mentors are individuals
who are ready to tell you what you NEED, and not what you WANT to hear. They are individuals
who are ready to tell you the truth no matter how it will hurt you. They are
individuals who are always keeping you focused on God’s plan for your life
through the word of God. They are individual who will discipline you through
the instructions of God’s word. They are individuals who are put you on
pressure in order for you’re the strength of your determine to increase – Elijah did this to Elisha when he was about
leaving the earth.
No matter how hot you
are in God, hear this; there are two encounters, you will experience in God,
before God releases you into full time ministry. The first encounter is so
powerful but it meant to bring you to the place of preparation under your
mentor. The first one is to help you to come to the feet of Jesus to learn the
plan, the principle, and the vision behind the empowerment of God that rested
on you.
According Galatians 4:1 - it’s clearly stated
that you must be set under tutors and guardian till you have reach the place of
maturity. “As long as the heir is still
a CHILD” – in other words, as long as you are still immature in faith,
you must be set under tutors and guardian. The major reasons why you need a
mentor is because there are things you need to know that you have not yet
known. They are things you know and do not understand. They are things you
know, and understand but the principle (wisdom) to express this
revelation is absent.
You must be set under
tutors to be train, and for personal development according to the vision, God
has given you. You must be taught how to focus, how to be disciplined, how to
be truthful and how to be determined. You need to buy time from your mentor’s
experiences through the wisdom; knowledge and understanding God will be
directing them to offer you. This aspect is painful, and most time young people
do run out. Receiving the calling into the ministry is not enough to start a
ministry. There are specifications of purpose, details of the plan,
understanding of the time, and season you must be taught.
In as much as God has
anointed you for the next generation, you must learn from those that have gone
ahead of you. These attitude is what will help you to learn for their mistakes
in order for you to be do better and wiser than them. Those lessons are for you
to learn not to waste time through the same mistakes they have made in their
own time.
You Need A Mentor!
This is God’s principle
for operation even before the New Testament. For Elisha, God provided Elijah.
For Jesus, God provided John the Baptist. For Timothy, God provided Paul. For
the disciples, God provided Jesus. For Joshua, God provided Moses. For Samuel,
God provided Eli etc.
“That the Scripture might be fulfilled” Jesus
made this statement when he submitted him self to be baptized by John the
Baptist. The understanding hidden behind His statement he made was the issue of
mentoring. Jesus Christ the son of God bowed himself before John the Baptist
who was not worthy to untie the sole of his sandals. Why? It is because of
God’s principle behind mentoring. Whosoever you and no matter the different
encounters you have had with God; there must be somebody you must submit to.
There is a time for
discovery, time for preparation, time for manifestation. Within these phases
lies a season for waiting, walking, and running with the vision. – Habakkuk 2:2,
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write
the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
The interesting part of
it is this; God chooses your mentor for you. You do not have the right to
choose your mentor for your self. You do not even know the destination of God’s
plan for your life. All the vision, and the prophecies God has ever given, as
just in a phase, it is not all he has planned for your life. There is more
about God’s plan for your life than your present experiences in God.
Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create
evil: I the LORD do all these things.
