Your level of health determines the type of person you attract and choose to connect with.
Many singles focus on finding the right person while neglecting the importance of becoming emotionally, spiritually, and mentally healthy. Healing changes your standards. It teaches you to recognize peace instead of chasing chaos and to value consistency instead of confusing instability with passion.
Your inner world shapes your relationship decisions. When unresolved wounds, insecurity, or fear lead the way, you may ignore red flags, settle for less than God's best, or become drawn to unhealthy dynamics that feel familiar. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life."
A healthy person is not perfect, but they are growing. They take responsibility for their actions, communicate honestly, respect boundaries, and pursue God's wisdom in their relationships. As your life becomes healthier, your discernment becomes sharper, making it easier to recognize people who carry the same values.
Before you pray for the right relationship, ask yourself: What kind of person does my current level of health attract? Am I choosing from loneliness or from wholeness? If someone with my character and habits entered my life today, would I be excited to build a future with them?
