Before stepping into a relationship, it’s important to pause and reflect on what God has already placed in your care—your time, your talents, and your treasures. These three areas shape how you live, love, and lead in purpose. The way you handle them as a single person reveals how prepared you are to love rightly and build a purposeful relationship.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Your single season is not a waiting room; it’s a building ground. How you invest your time now—through prayer, learning, service, and self-growth—determines your readiness for love later. If you waste your time chasing validation or distractions, you may carry emotional emptiness into the next phase of your life. Redeem your time by prioritizing what strengthens your relationship with God and your purpose.
Your talents are divine gifts meant to be discovered and developed before you share your life with someone else. Matthew 25:14-30 teaches about the servants entrusted with talents, and how their faithfulness determined their reward. When you neglect your gifts, you not only shortchange your purpose but also enter relationships without a sense of direction. But when you nurture your talents—whether it’s teaching, leading, creating, or encouraging—you attract relationships that honor your purpose rather than derail it.
Your treasures—your resources, values, and even your body—are sacred. Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase.” Being faithful with your treasures means practicing contentment, managing your finances wisely, and keeping your body pure. A person who doesn’t respect what God has given will struggle to respect what belongs to someone else in a relationship.
Dear single friend, faithfulness in time, talents, and treasures is not just about discipline—it’s about preparation. When you manage these areas well, you become emotionally balanced, spiritually strong, and purpose-driven. You’ll attract and sustain love that aligns with God’s plan, not just your desires.
